Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men with about 60,000 diagnosed patients in 2006, in France and in all industrialized countries.

If detected early, local treatment can ensure recovery in more than 80% of patients.
Prostatectomy (ablation of all or part of the prostate gland) is currently the reference technique in men under 75. Its side effects are not very common but are quite well-known as they include urinary incontinence and erection disorders.
Minimally invasive prostatectomy has recently developed to offer more precise surgical interventions.

Drs. Jérôme MAIRE and Xavier ROUMIER have been practicing this intervention since September 2005. Between 2005 and 2008, they performed more than 200 evaluated interventions. This experience allows them to run discussion groups every three months in La Parisière, intended for urologists eager to improve their technical skillsn.
