Description :

Neurology is a medical specialty which deals with:

- The brain (with diseases such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, migraines, etc.);
- The spinal cord;
- Sensory and motor nerves (polyneuropathy);
- Muscles.

Electromyography (EMG) can be used in some cases. To perform intramuscular EMG, a single-use needle is inserted through the skin into the muscle tissue. The neurologist then observes the electrical activity and nerve conduction.

Depending on the body area, some risks can be involved such as touching a vein, artery or lung, but they are quite rare.

This examination is generally unpleasant but not painful. As bleeding may occur, it is strictly forbidden to take Anti-Vitamins K (such as PREVISCAN, SINTRON or COUMADINE).
